I want to learn to take good pictures. I just brought a used Olympus C-750 UZ. Now I have some questions.?
I ordered a 2GB x-D card, now I’m not sure if I can use it in this camera. also I wanted to get a card reader(I plan to take many pictures), specifically, the SanDisk Extreme IV Compact Flash Card I & II Reader / Writer, with FireWire 800/400 Connectivity. I know this will allow me not to spend hours unloading the card, but,now I,m not sure this reader will read this particular card.
I’ve ordered the card, but it hasn’t arrived yet; I can always return it, but I don’t want to order the wrong reader too. I know the card is proprietary, but I didn’t want the Olympus card reader because it doesn’t read enough different kinds of cards. All advice appreciated.
Each camera uses a system (batteries) to provide the power. Your Owner’s manual should advise you what it is. Some use standard AAs or similar AAs but rechargeable. Others use Li-on batteries(rechargeable) that are camera-specific. Do not mix these even though the specs might be similar. Some however will take the Li-on but also have provision for AAs as a back-up. Equally, if you are using rechargeables, do not recharge any battery that is not the proper one for that charger.
Regarding the Cards, the same thing applies – most if not all cameras have a specifc type of card. Again, do not interchange them with other types (Brand name does not make a difference, but make-up of card i.e.Shape and size, is very important. Cards available include XD, SD, CF etc, and the memory storage for some has gone up to 12 GB ( quite a lot of Pix!). Depending on your aims and objectives for photography will determine the size of card you want. a 1 GB or even 2 GB is more than enough on a fully charge battery (or pack).
Finally, Card Readers are not necessarily of the same make of the camera. These can be bought for less than £20 and have 10-12 slots for the different cards. Take out your used card from the camera, and insert it (smoothly) in the appropriate slot in the right way up. DO NOT FORCE IT IN or it might damage the contacts on both the Reader and Card. This is particularly so when using CF cards – any forcing of the card whether on the Reader or the camera is likely to result in bent contact pins…expensive repair work!
